The Delta Division Distinguished Service Award Committee was established in 2009 by Delta Division Director Mickey Cox K5MC. At the Delta Division Convention in Jackson, Mississippi in January of 2010 the award was conferred upon the first two(2) recipients, Alan Levine WA5LQZ and Ron Brown AB5WF. Both Ron and Alan are honorable men and certainly deserving of this award.
Do you know any ham in the Delta Division who you think is deserving of the Delta Division Distinguished Service Award? Any ham active in any facet of the hobby may qualify as a nominee. It really does not matterif the ham you choose to nominate is a DXer, Contester, Traffic Handler, Elmer, EmComm volunteer or active in all aspects of ham radio, they may just be a suitable nominee. Whatever their interest in ham radio is,if over time they have been active in their service to ham radio and their community, then you should consider nominating them for the Delta Division Distinguished Service Award. The main emphasis is Service over time. Service to ham radio and or service to the general public.
The nomination process is as simple as the committee could make it with a basic information page and documentation being all that is required.
This Information page and documentation is submitted to your Section Manager via email or U S Mail. The respective Section Manager will review the paperwork, add comments, if necessary, and submits the nomination to the chairman of the committee. The committee considers each nomination and each committee member casts a vote. The award will be presented at the annual Delta Division Convention by the Delta Division Director.
Take time and look around to see if you know of a ham who is deserving of this award. It is great to be recognized and this is a wonderful way to let a ham friend know how much they are appreciated.
73, Ray Husher W5EW Chairman
